A Rich History: From Canadian Wilderness to Mediterranean Fields

The Story Behind Our Ingredients — From Field to Jar
Naturally Canadian: Rooted in Muskoka
Our story begins in the forests and landscapes of Muskoka, Ontario — a place rich in natural beauty, seasonal rhythms, and botanical diversity.
At From Field to Jar, our journey started in 2013 on a 50-acre farm just outside Bracebridge. Surrounded by wild plants, freshwater lakes, and dense forest, we developed a deep connection to the land — one that continues to shape everything we create today.
What began as appreciation quickly became something more: a lasting respect for the natural world and its remarkable ability to support and restore the skin.
Wild Canadian Botanicals in Skincare
Today, with access to over 100 acres of family land, we continue to honour our Canadian roots by working in harmony with nature — sustainably harvesting and thoughtfully incorporating native botanicals into our formulations.
Canada’s plant life offers powerful yet gentle benefits for the skin.

A Philosophy Rooted in Nature
Every ingredient we use is selected with intention.
We believe that plants express their highest quality when grown in the environments they naturally belong to.
This philosophy guides not only what we use — but how we source it.
By working with nature instead of against it, we are able to create skincare that feels balanced, effective, and true to its origin.

Naturally Mediterranean: Where Lavender Thrives
Lavender is, by nature, a Mediterranean plant.
It thrives in dry, sun-rich climates where it develops its full strength, aroma, and therapeutic profile.
Through our experience growing lavender in Muskoka, we gained a deep understanding of the plant — its growth cycle, its needs, and its potential.
Being able to plant, harvest, and transform lavender into finished products gave us invaluable insight into its true character.
Understanding the Limits of Climate
Growing lavender in Northern Ontario also revealed important challenges.
Unpredictable weather and harsh winters can place stress on the plants, sometimes affecting entire crops.
These experiences reinforced an important truth:
Environment plays a critical role in botanical quality.
Even with care and attention, certain plants simply thrive best in their natural climate.
Returning Lavender to Its Natural Habitat
With this understanding, we made the decision to cultivate lavender in the Mediterranean — where it grows as it was intended.
In its natural environment, lavender:
- Develops greater strength
- Produces richer aroma
- Offers a more complete botanical profile
This results in oils of exceptional purity and depth — forming the foundation of our skincare.
